PRIMUS INTER PARES Each week a student will be chosen to be interviewed by a fellow student so we can get to know each other better. The Latin "Primus Inter Pares" was chosen because it was the language of the Roman Empire where Jesus was born. In English, "Primus Inter Pares" means first among equals. |

ISAIAH WINTER Isaiah is 17 years old and graduated from high school this week. He was born in Missouri and has a dad, mom, and three sisters: Maggie, Ava, and Emily. Isaiah has a cat named Freddie. He likes watching TV, especially cooking shows, with his family. They have traveled to Florida and Silver Dollar City. He likes riding his scooter, listening to music, drawing with pastels, and playing video games. His favorite color is green, his favorite book is "Sorcery of Thrones", and his favorite food is Mac and Cheese. He likes to get work done at school because he has a part-time job. He works on computers at Blueleaf Printing during some school days, where he is really fast at mouse clicking. The hardest thing about school is catching up on the work he missed while at the job. If he could only take one thing with him to a deserted island, he would take his friend Emily. He likes being funny, so the hardest thing he has ever had to do is be quiet and try not to be "disruptive." He is happiest when he is working, playing games, or playing with friends. He wants to have a creative career with computers. Interviewed by Emily Lyon |

Our last week of school has been a blessing to see how far all of the students have progressed in academics and social skills. We have focused on our math and science for the end of the year. Ladybugs, the life cycle of a butterfly, bugs, and spiders. It's been an honor working with your children this past year. I have learned a lot and made such great friends. Thank you parents for your support. Academy has been a blessing for me this year. I also have to thank Julie Baalmann for the support and kindness you have given me and the students. We all love you!! |

Middle School 1 This week we finalized a comparison essay on our novel study. We also had fun learning about onomatopoeias using word bubbles in comic strip form, and we finished the year writing our very own Haiku! Students are bringing home a summer packet to help enhance their reading and writing skills over the summer so be sure to check it out! Middle School 2 This week we finalized a comparison essay on our novel study. Students are bringing home a summer packet to help enhance their reading and writing skills over the summer so be sure to check it out! High School A few of our students worked on a final essay about the book they were reading. Some of our other students read a familiar fairytale by Hans Christian Anderson and re-wrote their own versions. We all wrapped up the year with personal Haikus using descriptive words on senses like taste, smell, touch, and sound. Returning students are bringing home a summer packet to help enhance their reading and writing skills over the summer so be sure to check it out! |

For our final week in Government, students created a poll for the 2022-2023 school year Student Council Officers and wrote a petition with a few changes they would like to see at the Academy next year. They then distributed the polls amongst the student body to collect data on student interest. Finally, we collected the data and recorded the results. We will be holding a campaign/election for the student council in the fall. Be sure to encourage your child to get involved!!! |

Elementary We ended the year learning about our special helper and friend - our Guardian Angels. We learned that they help us every day to do the right thing, protect us, and to help us talk to God. What a sweet gift to take with us for the summer. Have a fun, relaxing, wonderful summer! Middle School 1 Middle School 2 The kids did such a great job learning about people (men, women, and children) who live homelessly. We learned that there are 3 basic reasons for homelessness: lack of money (loss of job, family support, sickness, etc), addiction, and mental illness. Above all, we learned about how to be Christ for them when we encounter this situation on almost a daily basis. Their assignment is to teach each of their families about the 6 ways we can make them feel loved and valuable. See the article below Seeing Christ in and Being Christ for Those Living Homeless. SEEING CHRIST IN and BEING CHRIST FOR THOSE LIVING HOMELESS: “End of the year outreach project for Middle School and High School” The goal of this project is for each student to open up a discussion about homelessness and help teach their families how to bring love and respect to our encounters with those living homeless. Many families already do a wonderful job! We discovered however that many of us feel awkward when faced with homelessness. We want to be Christ-like but really don’t know how. We learned that there are 6 basic things to do when encountering homelessness. In each step, we should always have a parent or adult with us and read the situation to keep us safe. We also made a sample Blessing Bag of basic needs to hand out to the homeless. (See an email sent on this topic.) We are reminded that not only are we Christ for each person we encounter, they are Christ for us as well. “Whatever you do to the least of my brother or sister, you do unto Me” Matt 25:40. There’s a wonderful quote from the book The Same Kind of Different as Me. Denver Moore (a wise homeless man) said, “ I don’t understand how a person can worship a homeless man (Jesus) on Sunday then ignore a homeless man on Monday.” These are definitely words to ponder. |
