FROM THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR,

Mrs. Terri O’Daniel

The Herzog Foundation will host our Parent Coffee

Wednesday, October 9, at 8:30 am

The Herzog Foundation will present information about the 25-26 MOSCHOLAR Program. I encourage you to attend this event to take full advantage of this program for your child! MOSCHOLAR funding for the 25-26 school year has been increased from $6,400 per student to $11,000. The application process opens on February 1, 2025. New applicants will be added to the scholarship list this year,

In addition, The Herzog Foundation will share how your own Missouri State taxes can directly benefit Academy students.

The Herzog Foundation is providing refreshments!

The Herzog Foundation Business Owner’s Coffee
October 9 at 7:30 am

(before the Parent Coffee at 8:30 am)

The Herzog Foundation invites Academy families who own businesses or work for companies that pay Missouri state taxes to attend their MOSCHOLAR presentation. This event will explain how companies can redirect their Missouri state taxes to support the Academy’s MOSCHOLAR fund, which provides scholarships for our students. The presentation is open to everyone, so please feel free to share this invitation with others. After all, no one enjoys paying state taxes—wouldn’t it be great to know exactly how your tax dollars are being used? See the flyer below for more details.

The more we spread the word, the more funding our students receive. Please take a moment to go through your contacts and invite others to join you for this event!

Coffee and refreshments are provided by The Herzog Foundation.

The Herzog Foundation.

PRINCIPAL’S CORNER

Mrs. Kathy Puettmann

Mrs. O’Daniel and I took our first group of students to the West County Chamber of Commerce Luncheon on Thursday. Kathryn, Will, and Andrew were awesome ambassadors for the Academy! We plan on having different faculty and students attend each month. This is a great opportunity for our students to practice their social skills and communication out in the community.

This week, we continued our exciting *Ocean* theme with a mix of fun and learning! Each day started with some energizing gross motor movements to get us going. In Religion, we listened to Mark 4 and talked about trusting in God and how our families help keep us safe. Our math lessons focused on fall-themed activities, where we practiced sorting, counting, and one-to-one correspondence. In Science, we explored the question, “What is the most dangerous animal in the ocean?” On Thursday, we switched gears to learn why leaves change color as we combined Art and Science by collecting leaves and making leaf rubbings.

Groups 3 and 4 packed a lot of activities and academics into this short school week. A favorite assignment in ELA was our journal writing, “If I Was Principal for a Day.” Be sure to ask your child what they would do! As the month is quickly coming to an end, students can turn in their September Bingo sheets on Monday. Shout out to Allison Z. for being the first student in Group 4 to turn in her sheet—another shoutout to Grace O., who celebrated her birthday this month.

September seemed to have flown by!

We are entering the last week of our RAK challenge. I have seen a lot of the growing chains in each group! Keep up the excellent work in spreading kindness!

Groups 3 and 4 took a trip to Schnucks at Twin Oaks. We made purchases that were needed for the Academy. Groups 1, 3, and 4 practiced budgeting and making practical choices in grocery purchases.
