PRINCIPAL’S CORNER
Mrs. Kathy Puettmann
We are back up and running! Thank you all for your understanding and flexibility while the St. Joseph maintenance crew worked to fix the plumbing issue that forced us to close. The upper school field trip to the Principia Challenge Course has been rescheduled to Thursday, October 10, 2024.
The students are getting into their routines and are excited about their classes. It is such a joy to watch them engage and challenge themselves and each other. I hope you all get to enjoy the beautiful weather this weekend!
MRS. CANTAREIRA CORNER

SNACKS
DON’T FORGET SNACKS!
Each day, every class has a mid-morning snack. Please remember to send in a snack with your child each day.
Lunch Accounts
Lunch is serviced by St. Joesph Early Childhood Learning Education and its FACTS management system. That system is changing, and they cannot register our new families or deposit funds into the accounts now. This will not disrupt our ability to purchase hot lunches. In the meantime, we will collect lunch orders from our families and record the purchases. You can deposit money into the account when the system is corrected. If your student wants to purchase lunch, please use the lunch calendar to order. Simply circle the days you would like our student to buy and return the calendar to the office.
Sacrament Interest
Please take a moment to answer the following questions regarding your child’s interest in receiving the Sacraments of Baptism, First Reconciliation, First Communion, and Confirmation. Preparation will last several weeks during class time. Reception of the Sacraments will be during the Easter season, with specific dates to be determined.

Academy Pet: (Peeps)
It is that time of year again, and many of the students have been asking when they can bring Peeps, our class bunny, home. Typically interested families can pick up Peeps on our Friday dismissals and bring him back to the Academy the following Monday. We provide everything he needs for the weekend, including a care sheet so you know exactly what he needs each day. This is a great way to give your student temporary responsibility without the commitment of a full-time pet. Peeps are used to being in homes with other pets and small children. The sign-up genius for this semester is listed in the link below. Students can sign up for multiple weekends, if you have any additional questions feel free to reach out to Mrs. Hodge at khodge@acadstl.org

We’ve had a wonderful week in the classroom! We dove into Luke 5 and discussed how we can be helpers to our family and friends, just like Jesus’ disciples. The children also started a new reading program, which they’re very excited about! We took time to draw self-portraits of our families, and it was so fun to see their creativity. To top off our week, we enjoyed a fun Pizza Friday.
This week, our students have truly excelled, demonstrating hard work, resilience, and adaptability despite unexpected changes in our routines. We are incredibly proud of their focus, teamwork, and the way they supported one another through each challenge. Looking ahead for groups 1 and 2, we have History and Biology tests next week. Please take some time to encourage them to review over the weekend.
It was a great week for Groups 3 and 4!
Students have been actively participating in community outings, and working on building friendships. Some highlights of the week included reading and discussing Uncle Tom’s Cabin along with current events and doing IXL in math. Since our virtue of the month is kindness, we’d like to give a special shout-out to Group 4 continuing to add links to their kindness chain.

Students who qualify for the Succeed Program are eligible to receive a Chancellor’s Certificate from the University of Missouri – St. Louis. This requires the completion of 44 credit hours within two years. Incorporated into the program are vocational exposure, training, and internship opportunities.
