We had a fantastic and busy week in our classroom, packed with Halloween fun and meaningful activities! During reading and story time, we enjoyed books like Little Blue Truck’s Halloween, Five Little Pumpkins, and other Halloween-themed stories that sparked excitement and engagement. For Math, we practiced counting skills using colorful fall shapes. We focused on social-emotional skills by practicing navigating busy hallways and working on patience as we waited in areas outside our classroom. Some of our special activities included painting spider webs and making monster crafts, adding a creative touch to our Halloween celebration. We had a great time working together to create our classroom pumpkin. We started by scooping the insides, sorting the seeds, and voting on a design. Ethan sketched the face on the pumpkin, and everyone took turns carving it. We continued learning about the saints in religion, culminating in participating in the All Saints’ Day Parade on Thursday afternoon. Check their backpacks to see what we’ve been working on!
Mrs. Barry and Mrs. Richardson’s groups had a great week!
In Religion, students completed a Saint project, and many students dressed like their favorite Saints at our parade. We finished our Civil War unit in Social Studies and will move into the Reconstruction Period. We also finished reading Uncle Tom’s Cabin in ELA and have been studying literary elements to analyze our story. We want to give Lil Wilbers and Austin O’Bert a special shout-out for showing grace and kindness to their peers this week. We are proud of you both!
Hodge and Houlihan’s classes had chapter tests in Biology and History this week. We had several students do a great job on these. It taught everyone how important it is to put thorough information in their study guides and, more importantly, to use them! We finished our novel study on the adventures of Tom Sawyer and explored the brilliant mind of Mark Twain. Thursday’s Inside Out 2 party was a hit! Thank you to Kirkwood Pop.Co, thank you for letting us sample the AMAZING flavors of popcorn you offer. The class favorites were the Sour Cream and Cheddar, Cookies and Creme, and the Chocolate Caramel. Thanks to Jayden Buchanan and Grant Liebig for their excellent study habits and for rocking their exams!
