The highlight of our week was being able to celebrate as a school family. On Friday we enjoyed a pizza lunch to celebrate our March birthdays. On Friday afternoon we gathered together again to celebrate our All School Mass.
We love our school family!
Our reading group spent this week reviewing the figurative language terms. We practiced identifying the different types of figurative language and deciphering them to find their meaning. Figurative language can be such a challenging concept to grasp, and I am so proud of the hard work and determination our young readers have shown! We began looking at ways to collect, represent, and interpret data in math. We worked with tally marks, pictographs, and bar graphs to help us organize and analyze our data. In science, we investigated the invertebrate classification of animals. I love to see their excitement for learning and their eagerness to support their classmates!
Our intermediate class would like to congratulate everyone who participated in the all-school mass this Friday and give a special shout-out to our friends Eva and Devon for doing a spectacular job reading the petitions! We are so proud of you!
This week in ELA, groups 1 and 2 listened to The Golden Touch by Nathaniel Hawthorne and Legend of Sleepy Hollow by Washington Irving. We identified the components of American Romanticism in each piece. We wrote a comparison between the two pieces we studied by Washington Irving, known as the Father of the American Renaissance in literature! Students are encouraged to continue working on their ELA Bingo sheets at home for March. Group 3 ELA began writing their book reviews for our novel study on My Brother Sam is Dead. We will start our unit on American Romanticism next week with Washington Irving’s Rip Van Winkle. Please remind your students to keep working on their Bingo sheets each night. Our science classes studied the difference between tropical and temperate rainforests. We learned the four levels of rainforest by participating in a scenic painting session and completed Ch. 5, Lesson 2 in our books.
In the Independent living class, we worked on filling out various applications. We also started practicing interviewing.
This week, we worked on our individualized math in our math folder. We worked on IXL as an individualized program.
This week in writing, we are working on writing sentences. We also have been working on typing.com
