What is Charting the Life Course?
The Charting the LifeCourse (CtLC) framework was created to help individuals and families of all abilities and all ages develop a vision for a good life, think about what they need to know and do, identify how to find or develop supports, and discover what it takes to live the lives they want to live.

Principal’s Corner, Mrs. Kathy Puettmann
Next week we will celebrate Fat Tuesday on February 13 with a pancake breakfast for students, parents, and staff beginning at 8:00 a.m. in the cafeteria. Please plan on joining us! Valentine’s Day is also Ash Wednesday, the beginning of the Lenten season. We will be attending mass in the morning and all students will receive ashes. The season of Lent begins with Ash Wednesday and lasts until the final Saturday before Easter, Holy Saturday. Lent is a penitential season. It recalls the 40 days Jesus spent in the desert and the 40 years the Israelites wandered in the desert. Lent focuses on the events leading up to Christ’s passion, and finally on the Passion itself. We will not be having any formal Valentine’s celebrations in the classrooms. Elementary and Intermediate students may bring valentines for all their classmates. We ask that Upper School students do not bring valentines to school.

From the very first day of school, we’ve been counting school days, recording the days by making sets of ten. This daily counting practice has been an excellent opportunity to learn about place value. Understanding place value helps children learn and understand other mathematical concepts.
This week, we finally reached 100 days of school! It was the perfect opportunity to look back and reflect on all that we’ve accomplished. We celebrated by having fun with the number 100, exploring, counting, and sorting. We dressed as 100-year-olds and had a pizza party too!

100 Day Celebration in Mrs. Lewis’ Class
I can’t believe we have been in school for 100 days already! I have loved watching them grow so much, and am proud of the hard work, perseverance, and kindness they have shown so far. For the 100th day, we played a team-building challenge where the students had to use 100 cups to make a tower. It was incredible to see their teamwork as they supported each other, cheered their classmates on, and worked together to problem-solve!
Our reading group spent this week reviewing our previously learned comprehension skills. In science, we learned about the Arctic and introduced the wetlands. Since February is Black History Month, we have been learning about why it is celebrated and learning about some important people in history. We have been working on word problems in math.
Groups 1-3 continued reading our novel My Brother Sam is Dead. The war has made its way to Redding and we are putting ourselves in the shoes of the main character, Tim Meeker, as he contemplates which side of the Revolution he’s on. In Science, we have completed Part One of our data collection for our Endangered Species projects and will continue with Parts 2 and 3 on Conservation Efforts next week! Thank you to the families who have been supporting the Bingo Sheets in Group 3 at home, they are excited to be working towards our goal! As a reminder, each completed Bingo sheet is worth up to 25 extra credit points, students will be entered into a drawing for an Amazon gift card AND those who complete their sheets will have a movie/popcorn party during lunch and recess on March 1!
This week in math, we worked on individualized sheets in our Math folder. We also worked on individualized programs in IXL.
In our independent living class, we started discussing employment, career choices, and educational options.
In our writing class, we continued to work on basic sentences. We also work on writing sheets together as a class.
