DRESS DOWN FOR OPENING DAY
Celebrate Cardinals Opening Day with a Dress Down Day. On Thursday, April 4, the Academy of St. Louis will celebrate the home opener with a dress-down day! Show off your team spirit by wearing your favorite Cardinal’s gear.
Skyhawks Basketball and Soccer Session
Sessions begin on Tuesdays, April 9-May 7, 2:45-3:45 p.m.
Skyhawks Sports Academy provides sports programs where children discover and develop athletic skills and social values, such as teamwork, respect, and sportsmanship, while promoting a healthy, active lifestyle.
This 4-week, multi-sport program will teach the basic skills of basketball and soccer. The cost is $75.00. The deadline to register is 4/5/24.

The Eclipse on Monday, April 8
Partial Eclipse Experience – Monday, April 8, 2024
On Monday, April 8, St. Louis will experience a partial solar eclipse. At its 2 p.m. peak, the moon will cover 99% of the sun’s diameter. We aim to create a fun, safe, and memorable eclipse viewing experience for students and staff. We are inviting all students to watch the partial eclipse outside and are preparing to do so safely.
Staying Safe
The City of Manchester has given us ISO-certified eclipse glasses for all students and staff who wish to view the eclipse. Because this will be a partial eclipse, meaning part of the sun’s diameter will be visible at all times, students and staff must wear their eclipse glasses at all times while viewing the eclipse. We encourage you to talk with your student about the importance of following instructions and protecting their eyes while outside.
This eclipse is different from 2017, when we were able to remove our eclipse glasses to view totality (when the moon completely blocked the sun). If your student witnessed the 2017 total eclipse, help them understand that this time, they will wear their eclipse glasses at all times while observing the sun. However, students can remove their glasses to observe unique phenomena such as a 360-degree sunset, stars visible during the day, and interesting crescent shadows on the ground. This will take place with teacher guidance and supervision.
On the day of the eclipse, your child’s teacher will prepare students for viewing the eclipse with activities exploring the science and math of solar eclipses. Students will be taken outside a few minutes before the peak of the partial eclipse and return to their regular school schedules shortly after. Students will be supervised at all times.
Your child may bring a beach towel to sit on if they would like to.
You can opt-out here if you do not want your child to go outside to view the partial eclipse. School staff will provide these students with an alternative indoor activity.

2024 Summer Camp Opportunities
Miriam Learning Center Summer Camp – https://www.miriamstl.org/camp
K-8 Camp Dates:
June 10 – 28: Hidden Treasures—Explore the jungle, national parks, and other undeveloped land to discover nature’s treasures. You may find an extinct animal, a weird-looking plant, or a gross bug that makes you shiver. Satisfying your curiosity is the best treasure ever!
July 8 – 26: Around the World in 15 Days – Take an imaginary ride on a magical hot air balloon to faraway and exotic lands. Explore and experience different cultures, foods, and historic sites of places you want to visit. Your five senses will be amazed.
High School Camp Dates:
June 17 – 28: Circle of Friendship – Friendship is a never-ending circle of reciprocal and positive peer interactions. Learn creative ways to start and make lasting friendships with other high school students through fun camp activities and community-based outings held each Friday.
At each camp, students and families can pick a morning session (8-11 a.m.), an afternoon session (12-3 p.m.), or both and choose the topic of each session from the camp offerings. Camp session offerings include Academic Skill-Building Camps, Social and Emotional Camps, Therapeutic Instruction Camps, and Small Group Enrichment Camps. St. Louis ARC Summer Camp Offerings
Camp R&R (Ages 13 & Up)
St. Louis Arc’s R&R Camp is a weekend camping project that serves St. Louis County residents with intellectual and developmental disabilities and high support needs. This project takes place at the Wyman Center in Eureka, MO. R&R Camp is for people ages 13 and older and focuses on each person as an individual with unique abilities, opinions, and qualities. Campers are encouraged to discover their strengths and preferences by participating in recreational and outdoor camp activities. Participants attend three-weekend sessions between August and May. The staff ratio at camp is 1:1 or 1:2. To sign up or receive additional information, contact Sarah Ballance, Coordinator of Leisure Services, at 314-817-2229.
Neighborhood Experiences (Ages 13 – 20)
Neighborhood Experiences supports participants as they engage in volunteer and work experiences while achieving personal and career goals. Individuals will meet new friends, expand their social network, and create professional resumes and portfolios. This summer project serves St. Louis County and City Residents with intellectual and developmental disabilities, ages 13 to 20. The staff ratio for Neighborhood Experiences is 1:1 to 1:3. Camp Circle Star is designed to be a welcoming environment for children with disabilities. It offers small groups and individual attention, and campers choose their activities for a “custom camp” experience. Camp Circle Star will offer weekly camps from June 10 through Aug. 9 (the week of July 29 is for campers ages 19 and up). The weekly camp costs $400, and a shuttle is available for an additional $50.
