PARENT RESOURCE ZOOM MEETING
CHARTING THE LIFE COURSE
On February 12 at 7:00 p.m., a parent presentation will explain the purpose, structure, and critical components of our transition program, Charting the Life Course (CtLC). Please save the date and join us via Zoom. The school and our families must have a Positive Parent Partnership. I want to point out that this presentation will clarify and answer many of your questions about how the program fits into your child’s life at the Academy. A link to join will be sent in an email.

Mrs. Kathy Puettmann
The last two weeks have been a whirlwind of activity! The students celebrated Pro-Life Week and Catholic Schools Week. Thank you to all the parents who attended breakfast on Tuesday. We appreciate all that you do to support our school! Thank you to the teachers as well for making Student Appreciation Day so special by rolling out the red carpet for our Student STARS!

It was such a fun week celebrating our Catholic school! Thank you to all those who made the week so special for us.
In our class, we work hard to support one another. Supporting each other encourages kindness, compassion, and problem-solving skills. It creates a sense of belonging. When we feel we belong, we become more confident, take risks, and do better academically.
Ms. Baalmann and I are very proud of the elementary students. We would like to thank them for always encouraging one another.
It was so much fun celebrating our families, our country, our students, and our school during this Catholic Schools Week! We appreciate every member of our school community and all the hard work each person contributes!
This week, we focused on the habit of forgiveness. Our class shared experiences where we sought forgiveness and our struggles to forgive others, which allowed us to investigate the perspective of the other person. We also learned forgiveness through the story of the prodigal son in religion, which emphasizes God’s unconditional love for us.
Our reading comprehension group focused on identifying the main idea and the supporting details in a text. We have been enjoying developing our comprehension skills in interactive activities, such as Jeopardy and board games. In science, we took a virtual field trip to each of the five oceans on our planet as we learned about habitats and ecosystems. We were fascinated to discover that much of the ocean has not been explored and investigated the conditions that make deep sea exploration difficult! On Friday, we learned about the history of Groundhog Day and celebrated the coming of spring. Miss. Pattrin and I are so proud of our students for demonstrating perseverance as they push deeper into their learning!
We continued reading “My Brother Sam is Dead” in ELA and have been looking at the Revolutionary War from multiple perspectives. Much like our main character, we realize that there are often more than just two sides to an argument. We will be reading Chapters 5-8 next week! In Science, students have begun to explore the components of a research project on Endangered Species. We will be working on this in and out of class for the month of February. They should have a timeline attached to their outline that will help them stay on task.
This week in history, we reviewed the causes of the American Revolution, including the various instances of taxation without representation and events like the Boston Tea Party and Boston Massacre. On Monday, we will take a quiz on the causes of the American Revolution.
