MIDDLE SCHOOL 2

This week in Science, we learned all about “Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle.” Our class took a virtual field trip to see where trash ends up after we throw it away. We visited a local dump and a recycling center. Then students collected recycled materials to create our very own “class pets”! Next week, we rocket into outer space to learn how the solar system works. We will be rocketing into Ch.8 next week as we learn all about how the solar system works. 

MIDDLE SCHOOL 1 and 3

 Students worked diligently on their water pollution presentations. Some chose to create a brochure, while others designed an animated google slides presentation about their research from last week. We also celebrated Earth Day by incorporating our Ch7  Students, who worked diligently on their research projects this week. Some chose to design a brochure, while others created an animated google slides presentation. They will be sharing their information on their assigned topics next Tuesday. We wrapped up Chapter 7, section 3 on “Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle” – just in time for our Earth Day activities. We will launch into outer space next week as we begin Ch.8 on the Solar System, beginning with how it works!

MIDDLE SCHOOL 1 & 3 

Students are finishing up their Book Report Projects. We have dioramas, Comic Strips, Collages and Glossaries with Word Searches all based on scenes from The Janitor’s Boy.

MIDDLE SCHOOL 2

This week we used our comprehension and Vocabulary skills to learn about Parasailing, White Water Rafting, and Hot Air Ballooning.

HIGH SCHOOL 2 – WRITING

High schoolers updated their Persuasive Essay draft to account for who their audience is, and possible opposing opinions.

HIGH SCHOOL 2:

Our Physical Science Class reviewed ch.4 this week on work and energy. We focused mostly on potential and kinetic energy. Students designed their tricks using Dominos, which included a force to put their dominos in motion as well as an object to which the dominos exerted force into as well. We began by drawing up blueprints for our “mouse-trap” designs, then following step by step process to put them to the test. We will continue reviewing how energy works next week as we turn up the “Heat” in Ch.5

 We are studying the Resurrection of Our Lord and beginning to study the corporal and spiritual works of mercy.

Staff Spotlight
Ms. Samantha Ellison

This week our staff spotlight is Ms. Ellison, our school counselor. Ms. Ellison has been at our school for over three years! Her favorite drinks and food are Dr. Pepper, Chick-fil-a, and Red Robin. If she had to choose Target, Amazon, or Walmart, she’d choose Amazon. She loves working with the kids and helping them build friendships. One of her favorite things about the Academy is getting the chance to work with all the families in grades K-12. We love Ms. Ellison! Thanks for all you do!

DUO DOG VISIT
This week we had a special visit from Evie the Duo Dog. Duo Dogs is a national nonprofit organization that trains and connects dogs with people to cultivate positive change in individuals, families, and communities.
